The release of the Unified Development Ordinance draft is planned for early fall 2021.

The Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) is a critical tool in enacting the community’s vision for growth set forth in the Charlotte Future 2040 Comprehensive Plan. The 2040 Comprehensive Plan sets policies and goals for what our community should look like, but without a tool to regulate development, the vision cannot become reality.

On June 21, 2021 Charlotte City Council adopted the 2040 Comprehensive Plan. With this vision set, the UDO team is working to unify eight development ordinances into one, in a way that enacts the community’s vision for growth.
