March 22, 2018: Planning To Win: Charlotte’s Vision (featuring Mitchell Silver)

What: 
A presentation and question/answer session with Mitchell Silver, FAICP moderated by Joe O’Connor of WFAE. Silver, the New York City Parks Commissioner, was previously the Chief Planning & Development Officer for the City of Raleigh and the President of the American Planning Association. He is widely recognized for his leadership in the planning profession and his contributions to contemporary planning issues.

Why:
Over the course of several months, a series of national and international thought leaders will visit Charlotte and work with residents and leaders to move the needle on key issues related to the city’s built environment. Through Building Community; People + Places + Partners, we will educate and train neighborhood leaders, work hands-on with municipal staff and elected officials, and inform and engage residents. We will have frank discussions about what we can do together and how we can do it. We will develop a shared toolbox of methods and strategies with which to implement new ideas.


March 23, 2018: What Can UDO Coffee Talk

What:
The Coffee Talk will feature a brief presentation from keynote speaker Mitchell Silver, FAICP. Mitch Silver serves as the New York City Parks Commissioner and is internationally recognized for his leadership in the planning profession and his contributions to contemporary planning issues.

After the presentation, the floor will be opened for questions and answers. Planning staff will also be available to answer questions about the Charlotte Place Types and Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) as well as the What Can UDO Summit scheduled for March 24th.

What Can UDO Summit Materials

What:
This summit provides an opportunity for the community to share input related to the Charlotte Place Types and Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), a city-wide effort aimed at updating the policies and regulations that guide growth and development in Charlotte.

The summit will feature keynote speaker Mitchell Silver, FAICP. Mitch Silver serves as the New York City Parks Commissioner and is internationally recognized for his leadership in the planning profession and his contributions to contemporary planning issues. The summit will also include two interactive workshops, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, which are focused on “Living and Thriving in Charlotte.”
